During the JEC World trade show, dedicated to the Composites Division and held from March 4 to 6, we had the opportunity to meet our new subsidiary of the Composites Division: Glasscom. Acquired in November 2024, Glasscom now strengthens the structure of the Groupe Gazechim Composites.
Founded in 2004 by three partners, including two former Owens Corning engineers and Pere Rubiralta, Glasscom specializes in the production of fiberglass fabrics. Its product range includes Woven Roving, Unidirectionals, and materials intended for pultrusion, RTM, or infusion. The company’s focus on tailor-made production has enabled it to withstand particularly aggressive competition from Asian companies over the years.
Based in Balsareny, 35 km from Barcelona’s city center, Glasscom currently employs 40 people: 5 in management, 3 overseeing operators, and some
production operators.
Today, Glasscom’s main clients include Lamberet and Groupe Gazechim. The company also holds a strong position in the tank production market and is now
making significant progress in the ceramic market in Spain. “We recently participated for the first time as exhibitors at the JEC World trade show at the Groupe Gazechim Composites booth. It was an intimidating experience at first, but the team quickly felt supported by the family spirit promoted by the Group,” explains Jordi Nadal, Director of Glasscom.
By joining Groupe Gazechim Composites, Glasscom hopes to benefit from guidance and support to continue its growth, particularly in technical and research & development fields, which are difficult to explore as an independent company.
