The Porsche 911, a timeless, iconic car. The California-based company Singer Vehicle Design came up with the idea of transforming this model in a customised version, using carbon for the interior, the structural components and part of the chassis. Since the engineering was entrusted to a Spanish company, it was only natural that the project landed in the hands of our Spanish subsidiary, Uneco, a specialist in Advanced Composites.
It all began with DS Composites, one of Uneco’s customers, which introduced them to the project in February 2024: a three-year program to manufacture the interiors and structural components, with the intention of using a prepreg (carbon fabric impregnated with epoxy resin) specially designed for the automotive industry by our partner Hexcel—namely the M49 in different weights (245, 370, and 600 g/m²).
Uneco finalised the agreement at the JEC World 2024 show, with the invaluable help of Hexcel. DS Composites and Uneco have formed a promising partnership, and they are already working together on a new project with a Danish company.
